This message contains important updates about the Early Learning Assessment (ELA) and the Ready for Kindergarten Online (KReady) system for administrators, data managers, and teachers.
Assessment operations for the ELA have transitioned over to the new Department of Children and Youth (DCY). See this ELA Update sent out through the new DCY Tuesday Times on April 16, 2024. For the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year, we will send communications to you about the ELA through the Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) GovDelivery system, like this bulletin you are receiving today. Beginning in July, we will send communications through the DCY GovDelivery system, including important and timely updates included in the DCY Tuesday Times and/or DCY Kids Corner newsletters. New ELA Professional Development Platform Coming in June!
Starting on Thursday, May 9, the ELA professional development that is currently in the KReady system will no longer be accessible. The green Access Professional Development and Resourcesbutton will be redirected to a new PD component that will not include the current ELA resources and supports. Preschool teachers who currently have access to the ELA PD site within KReady will no longer have access to the PD site within the KReady system. The instructional resources currently available in the KReady ELA PD site on the Supports and Resources tab are all available for educators to download before May 9.
Starting in summer 2024, the ELA Essentials Training will move to a fully online, self-paced format. This change will allow early care and education professionals to complete the training at a time that is convenient for them. More information will be provided in an upcoming DCY newsletter.
ELA Training Certificates
Teachers who have completed the ELA training in a previous year are encouraged to download their training certificate from the KReady system prior to Wednesday, May 8.
Important: Once we switch to the new PD platform on May 9, any previous ELA certificates that teachers received will no longer be accessible. All current users who have access to the ELA PD site will no longer have access to that site.

Early Learning Assessment Monitoring and Completion Webinar
Wednesday, May 8, 2024, 10 – 11 a.m.
This webinar is for data managers and administrators responsible for facilitating Spring 2024 Early Learning Assessment (ELA) scores and data reporting. This session will provide participants with information for monitoring progress, updating data, accessing reports, managing transfers, and data cleanup. Register here.
Archiving Reports
Data managers and building administrators are encouraged to download available reports from KReady and save them locally by May 31. The Ohio ELA data from 2023-2024 will be archived in the KReady system in June. Reports that have been generated this school year by data managers and administrators will be archived in the system and will be available at the user level next school year. After the archive, no user can generate a new report from a previous year. Reports generated by teachers are not available after the archive.
