Early Learning Assessment

Happy New Year! This message contains information regarding training for data managers and teachers and the Early Learning Assessment Fall and Spring administration windows.

Wednesday, February 9, 2022 (10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.)
This webinar is for new data managers and will provide information on using the Kindergarten Online Assessment system, also known as KReady, to report Early Learning Assessment (ELA) scores and data. This session features a general overview and detailed information related to data preparation and loading student, teacher, and enrollment date for the Spring 2022 administration window. Registration link.

If you are unable to attend the Webinars, the materials and video will be available online later in the week at the Help Desk’s Data Manager Training Website.

The ELA Spring administration window begins Feb. 15 and ends May 14.  Data managers will need to use the spring enrollment token (3elaspring22) to enroll preschool students in the spring assessment window for teachers to enter ratings. Data token information can be found on the Ohio K12 Help Data Manager Webpage.

The Winter 2022 Early Learning Assessment Training schedule is now available. The trainings include Early Learning Assessment (ELA) Virtual Initial Training, Early Learning Assessment for Support Teachers and ELA Technology Virtual Training (formerly called ELA Mini-Technology). Additional information on dates and registration can be found at Early Learning Assessment for Teachers.

The fall ELA reporting windows for EMIS and EAS are open now.  Programs serving children funded by the Early Childhood Education grant or Preschool Special Education are required to complete the Early Learning Assessment 10-Required Learning Progressions for those children and report scores for fall and spring administration windows. Please use the Learning Progression Score Report generated from the Ready for Kindergarten Online system, also known as KReady, or the Early Learning Bridge Form to obtain scores for reporting in EMIS or EAS. Please contact ELAHelp@education.ohio.gov with questions on scoring, including when to use N, NE or leave an item blank.

The Office of Early Learning & School Readiness will host Open Office Hours twice per month from January through July 2022:

Educators and school personnel are invited to pop into the virtual meeting space anytime during the 45-minute sessions to ask questions of our Early Learning Specialists. Specialists in Preschool Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Early Learning & Kindergarten Readiness Assessments, Preschool & School Age Child Care Licensing, and Head Start will be on hand to answer questions from school personnel. Access links to the office hours are posted from now through July at:  https://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Early-Learning.

If you have questions about the Early Learning Assessment, please email ELAHelp@education.ohio.gov.
